The Simmons Moodle Project

Simmons is moving to Moodle! Moodle is a dynamic online platform that facilitates teaching and learning. Moodle provides our community with a modern, flexible educational solution that reflects the educational goals, size, and spirit of our institution.

After a year-long phased transition process, all courses that formerly used eLearning are now hosted in Simmons Moodle. The semester before you begin teaching in Moodle, we will provide Moodle training as well as course building help as you decide whether to migrate your material from eLearning or build your course from scratch in Moodle.

Project Overview

The Simmons Learning Management System Transition Project will enable Simmons to make a smooth transition into a modern, flexible Learning Management System that reflects the educational goals, size, and spirit of our institution.

Simmons Moodle uses Joule 2, an enterprise platform that adds tools, capabilities, and customization layers to Moodle, a popular open-source learning management system. Joule 2 is developed, supported, and hosted by Moodlerooms.

The LMS Project team is composed of representatives from across campus, including from Academic Technology, Simmons Technology, the Simmons Library, the Registrar, GSLIS Technology, Simmons faculty, and students.
